You might imagine some preparations have been underway...and you're quite right.
I came home from work to find a fire extinguisher set to ready. Dave had decided the Dodge had potential for spontaneous combustion and established a mandatory policy: When driving TheDodge, carry a fire extinguisher.
Thankfully, he also thought perhaps some attention should be paid to the said Dodge before the 14 hour drive.
He then visited the best 'How To Prepare Your 1996 Caravan for a Long Haul' site he could find and I next saw this:

Engine work initiated. We're at T-6 days to departure at this point.
